METYLAN Woodchip is a strong wallpaper adhesive for wood-fibre wallpaper with high initial adhesion. The adhesive is durable and can be repaired with methyl cellulose paste.
Good adhesion. Easy to adjust. Easy to mix. For multiple recoating.
Application. Mixing the powder: Always use clean tools. Mix the contents of the package or the desired amount of powder completely, quickly and vigorously with a stirring rod or paddle with cold water (the mixing ratio can be found in the table) and continue to stir intensively for a short time (1 minute). Hold the package close to the water surface during spraying. Stir the material after 2-3 minutes and stir vigorously again after about 15 minutes. The adhesive is now ready to use. The ready-mixed adhesive can be stored in a closed container for up to 7 days.
Substrate preparation: The substrate must be dry, load-bearing, clean, smooth and sufficiently flat for the wallpaper in question. We recommend using Metylan brand products for surface pretreatment. Remove water-soluble or non-load-bearing paints and old wallpapers with Metylan Abloeser wallpaper remover. Smooth rough surfaces with a suitable filler. Prime load-bearing, highly absorbent substrates (e.g. old and new plasters, except plasterboard). Prime substrates with a little chalk or sand and plasterboard substrates. Contrasting substrates must be colour-matched before applying translucent wallpapers.
Application (to the back of the wallpaper): For paper-based wallpapers, the adhesive is applied to the back of the wallpaper using a brush or gluing device. Information on the absorption time can be found in the technical documentation of the wallpaper manufacturer. Do not let the adhesive soak into the wallpaper for too long.
Application (on the wall): For dimensionally stable wallpapers (on fleece backing), the adhesive can be applied slightly wider than the width of the tile, either with a roller or an airless device, to the substrate where the wallpaper is to be applied. Then apply the wallpaper dry to the adhesive layer. The adhesive can also be applied to the back of the wallpaper and applied without any absorption time. It must be ensured that the adhesive is applied in sufficient quantity. If possible, wallpapering should be based on daylight so that the joints are less noticeable. Wallpaper is usually applied vertically to walls. The tiles should be installed edge-to-edge or according to the manufacturer's instructions and air bubbles should be pressed out using a suitable wallpapering tool. The wallpaper may only be further finished after sufficient drying (approximately 12 hours, depending on temperature and environmental conditions).
Cleaning: Metylan adhesives dry transparent. To avoid gloss differences and coating defects, glue residues should be washed off the wallpaper immediately or dabbed carefully with a sponge and clean water. Clean tools with water immediately after use.
Storage: Remaining powder can be stored in a closed container for up to 6 months. Protect from moisture.
